Christopher the elf

Our elf loved hiding in funny places this year and seemed to always help us to get ready for movie night too. He was a lot of fun this year!

He had heard of a place you could drive through and see a festival of lights not too far from us so we decided to go. It was fun to see the lights and the kids thought it was a lot of fun. However, we didn't know that there was a carnival at the end. The kids were very disappointed to not get to go to it, but the prices were like going to six flags for a day. We did see Santa and have a little hayride that were free. Piper had her itouch and became the official photographer of the event

National Tree

We figured since we live near DC that we should go see the national tree. So one Sunday night we decided to head down to DC in the car, first time not to take the metro. We stopped at a place where it had all the signers of the Declaration of Independence and saw Thomas McKean's signature. He is a relative but is started to be debated in the family if he really is. So we headed to the tree. It was fun to walk through Santa's workshop and see Santa. Piper told him she wanted headphone and Christian wanted anything Peanut's related i.e. Charlie Brown. Each state decorates their own small tree around the national tree so it was fun to see all the trees and their decorations. The Texas tree was filled with ornaments with different kind of birds and many of the others were homemade ornaments by kids or students. They have a whole village to and train going around the national tree and the kids liked to throw pennies on the train (don't worry we only threw 4 pennies). Brian and I both love that on the way back to the car the kids started to see Christmas Carols at the top of their lungs so we were caroling along down the sidewalk. It was probably our favorite part.
